How to install Sims 3 on Windows 8

I purchased The sims 3 starter pack. I put "The Sims 3 disk in and nothing happened. No autorun install popped up so I manually went into the cd drive and opened the sims 3 file and clicked on setup....

    I thought i should report that i have resolved my issue. when it says to now make a Origins account... DO IT. you cannot install the game untill you do.

      even when you make the account, it still doesnt work..
