@asyaogrunc If you only deleted your custom content, not your Saves folder, then you can reinstall the custom worlds and your saves should be accessible again. You could load these saves, save your houses and sims to the in-game bin, and uninstall the worlds again; your households and lots would be available in any new save as well. (Side note: save the houses and sims separately, as it's less error-prone.)
If you need further help, please let me know what exactly you deleted, and whether your computer runs Windows or macOS.
hi. im using windows. i deleted everything in my "mods" and "downloads" folders only. my "saves" folder is there. how can load these saves and do the rest can you help?
@asyaogrunc Can you load a new save in one of the custom worlds that your sims were living in? Please try if you haven't already. And if you can't load that world, uninstall it through the launcher (if it's there) and download and install a fresh copy.
If you're not sure how to do this, how did you install them in the first place? Or are they maybe worlds that came with expansion packs rather than custom ones?
If you can load a new save in one of these worlds, but not your old saves, please open the Saves folder and post a screenshot of the contents, as in, I'd like to see the save names.
hi i'm sorry but the thing i don't understand is how do i "load a new save" cuz my world is not there since i deleted it from the launcher. i downloaded it from youtube, a simmer made it. so should i download the world from youtube again? by the way im not able to send a screenshot rn but i will asap
@asyaogrunc Yes, download the world from YouTube again, and install it, and load the game to the Main Menu (where you choose to load a save or start a new one). If you can load your old save at the Main Menu, go ahead and do that. If you can't load your old save, click New Game, choose that new world if it's available, and let me know whether it loads. You don't need to save your progress.
hello i couldn't load my old save, but when i click new game, chose that world it loaded🙂
@asyaogrunc Try recovering the backup version of your old save. Go here:
Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 3 > Saves
and you'll see a folder with your save name and a second one with the same name and a .backup extension, as in, SaveName.sims3 and SaveName.sims3.backup. Rename the backup and delete the .backup extension (e.g. SaveName1.sims3), and that will be available to load at the Main Menu.
If you can load this backup, let the game clock run for a couple of sim-minutes, then use "save as" to rename the save again. This will preserve the original backup in case you need it later. Using "save" overwrites the existing data; "save as" creates an entirely new save without touching the old one.
