into the future problem with time portal

hello, id hate to sound annoying but im having a lot of trouble and im unsure of what to do

I installed into the future for the first time yesterday and was very excited to finally play it

I had the problem that was discussed on this thread ( https://answers.ea.com/t5/Technical-Issues-PC/into-the-future-glitch/m-p/1716191#M91901 ) and was preparing to do a factory reset

I started the game this morning and went to one of my households, I decided to try the portal anyway just in case but I didn't have much hope. to my surprise it worked! 

I messed around in that household for a bit before deciding to send my main household (featuring myself as a sim as well as some close friends) into the future, but the glitch returned

I tried multiple things to get around this, deleting and replacing the time portal, moving to a new town, even starting a new game with my household to try to get us there that way

on both new towns the time portal never spawned and im unsure of what to do now, I would really like to go to the future in this household but I don't know how to do it

is there anything I can do to try to fix this? I did save yesterday after the time portal arrived but while it was still broken for me, did that disrupt some kind of code? im really confused and admittedly kind of irrationally upset about this so any advice is welcomed!!!

    @transonlyocean  By the glitch, you mean that a sim inspects the portal but won't stop, nothing happens, etc.?  Please do that factory reset you were going to try, start a new save with any random family, and see whether the portal works.  (Don't add anything to the new game folder before testing.)  If everything works, you can copy your existing save into the new folder (don't add anything else) and test.  Let me know how it goes.
