@RoaringHeights Is this you as well?

I agree with everything igazor said in that thread: The iMac should be able to handle ultra settings, maybe only barely, but it's also a 10-year-old computer that might be on its last legs. Even well-maintained iMacs start to fail at around a decade, although you might get lucky and have a few good years of use. If you were given this computer, or paid a very low price, it might be a reasonable option. But it cannot be counted on as a long-term solution and should not be regarded as such.
If you like macOS but don't want to pay $1,300 or more for a new iMac, a more recent model would be a better option. All the ones with AMD graphics cards can run Sims 3 and 4 on ultra settings. I have a 2017 MacBook Pro with a Radeon Pro 560 that handles both games just fine, although I do turn down the resolution a bit, which is not really a loss considering it's a 2880x1800 display. An iMac with a Pro 560 or higher would be as good or better.
Another option is a new or used M1 Mac Mini. Paired with a conventional (and cheap) monitor, it would give you the same performance as a new iMac but for a lot cheaper. Since new models start at $600, you might be able to find a used one in your price range. And cheap used monitors are available on Craigslist or NextDoor. All it needs in order to be compatible is an HDMI port.
Point is, yes you could play on one of these 2013 iMacs, for now, but there are better options to consider.
Yes, that’s me! Thank you for the detailed response, I really appreciate it. I’ll definitely be looking into the 560 models as I’m pretty interested in having a modern iMac that can run bootcamp as well.
