ag0197 Please list the full specs of your Mac: everything under About This Mac except for the serial number. Please also let me know whether you'd be willing to update your OS, which you can absolutely do on a 2017 model.
If you want to test something in the interim, you can create a new admin account on your Mac and try playing there. Don't link the account to your Apple ID (you can skip that step); just open Origin, repair Sims 3, and try to play.
