[Mac] Major sims 3 bug please help!

Hey!

I am suffering this bug on The Sims 3: "Exception raised. Unhandled page fault on read access to 0x00000104 at address 0x95efe0c0
It happens 30 minutes or so ingame, and much faster when I start Create a Sim.

The bug:

1. In Create a Sim: After 10 minutes of playing in Create a Sim the hard graphic corruptions start. The sim I am working on turns grey-black (like clothes, hair, everything) I cannot see their face, just the eyes (black eyes but I can still see them). Sometimes they even turn to a rainbow.. Like I can see the sim, but they're only rainbow coloured all over.. Then the only thing I can do to help myself is to save the sim in the library, because that is an indicator of my mac crashing. After 2 minutes with rainbow-or-black sims the game crashes and gives me the error message shown above.
2. Ingame: After 30 minutes of play the screen gets much lighter (as ingame light, not my Cinema Display light). If I then try to save the game I get the error message shown above. If I continue playing the game, it crashes, as in CAS, and gets the error message shown above. I am asked if I want to debug it or not, but it does not help. The game crashes nomather which button I choose. I am suffering the exact same bug on both of my macs.

These are the specs on my computers:
Macbook Air late2013 13" 1.3Ghz Intel Core i5 4GB RAM 120 GB Flash Storage running OS X 10.10.5
Mac Mini late2014 3.0Ghz Intel Core i7 16GB Ram 1TB HDD storage running OS X 10.11 (15A243d) with 24" Cinema Display from 2011
I have these expansion packs installed:

The sims 3 Seasons
The sims 3 Generations
The sims 3 Late Night
The sims 3 Ambitions
The sims 3 Student Life
The sims 3 Into the Future
The Sims 3 World Adventures
The Sims 3 Island Paradise
The Sims 3 Pets

Other:

Lucky Palms
Riverview
Monte Vista
Sunlit Tides
Hidden Springs
Some other store content

Game settings:

Enable Object Hiding "On"
Reflection Quality "Mirrors & Water"
Edge Smoothing "Low"
Visual Effects "Medium"
Lightning and Shadows "Medium"
Tree Detail "High"
Enable Animation Smoothing "On"
Enable Advanced Rendering "On"
Draw Distance "Medium"
High Detail Lots "3"
Texture detail "Medium"
Sim Detail "Medium"
Screen Size: 1344 x 840 (16:10)
Screen Refresh Rate "Standard"
What I have tried to do so far:

1: Called EA Support about this issue. They thought it had something to do with the serial codes in Origin so they changed them all to new ones. Then I had to uninstall the games - One by One - for then to reinstall them (still have the exact same issue).

2: Delete cache files – did not work

3: Sudo Purge. At one forum I read that it had with bad coding and programming to do (which it actually is) so I had to play the Sims 3 in windowed mode, writing "Sudo Purge" in the terminal each 5 minute or so 4: Played both with CD and not with CD (origin) and a combination. Nothing worked

As you see I have tried many things, but nothing seem to work.

PS: The game works as it should on my Macbook Pro from 2007, but it cannot run the game on higher settings, only the lowest..

Please help me!

    MacBook Air - "Macbook Air late2013 13" 1.3Ghz Intel Core i5 4GB RAM 120 GB Flash Storage running OS X 10.10.5"

    • To be honest I'm amazed you can even get the game to run on such a low powered MacBook Air. Your problem here will be a very low spec. processor which is struggling to run the game and all the EPs you have installed, coupled with integrated graphics which is pulling VRAM from your 4Gb system RAM, hence causing the constant Exception Raised error message which is the game running out of memory. You're doing the right thing by purging RAM but your MBA just doesn't have enough grunt to run everything you have installed. Have you tried uninstalling Seasons and Pets? You should see a difference and slightly smoother gameplay.

    Mac mini - "Mac Mini late2014 3.0Ghz Intel Core i7 16GB Ram 1TB HDD storage running OS X 10.11 (15A243d) with 24" Cinema Display from 2011"

    • You're running the El Capitan beta which is not supported by any 3rd party apps. Installing the beta is done at your own risk and you should be fully aware of programs not working properly and problems will arise. Again though, you're experiencing the Exception Raised error because the game is running out of RAM.  Even though you have 16Gb RAM the game can only access 2Gb maximum, hence the need to regularly purge RAM. You also have an integrated graphics card which is not compatible, Intel Iris. It is not listed in the GraphicsCard.sgr file so the game doesn't like it. If you would like to play the game on your Mac with these graphics you have to edit the GraphicsCards.sgr and GraphicsRules.sgr files. Instructions can be found here. Whilst this fix is working for some, unfortunately it doesn't seem to work for everyone.

There is no magic fix for your problems I'm afraid but uninstalling Seasons, and maybe Pets, on both machines should help a little.

Hey, and thank you so much for answer. I knew the game would not work anyways on my MacBook Air due to the low specs, but what you told me about the .srg files I did not know. I will for sure try it out and hopefully it will solve the problem. I have contacted EA Support chat and this is the most reasonable and logical answer I have heard so far! Thank you for helping me out and using your free-time on resolving oter people's problems!
