And I tried it on the city expansion pack and it's the same exact thing except that it's a black outline. My friend bought hers last night at the same time and it's working perfectly fine. I've tried restarting Sims a bunch of times as well as Origin and even my Mac. Any ideas on how to fix this problem?

Is it a new game or second-hand? Do you have any custom content that might be out of date?

It should be new. It was an instant download off of amazon.

OK, but you installed via Origin?
Do you just have the base game installed or expansions as well? Any custom content? Is your game patched?
How much RAM does your Mac have and what is the graphics card?
- Yeah, I did everything through Origin outside of buying the game.
And it came with two expansion packs, but before I had added those to the game it wasn't working. No custom content and I believe it's patched.
Two slots with 1 GB each. The graphics card is Intel GMA 950 I think.
