Did you try resetting the Sim or moving him out and back in via edit town ?

Sorry this took too long-real life intervened-and then I had to get her husband back from Egypt,but when all was copacetic, I reset her. Her journal disappeared from her inventory. She went to work and I hoped she would come home with a new one;but,even better, she got promoted to Level Ten!
