Might There Be a Future Patch?

I love The Sims 3. A lot. I had it set perfectly, finally functioning as it should--as it didn't when I purchased it, nor after. Then, I mistakenly updated to 1.69. Now things which did function no longer do. Removing mods fix some issues, but not all; however, said mods are also what fix how broken the game is. Might we be seeing a patch to fix this patch? I have the Origin version of the game, so I cannot revert to 1.67. I've tried. Super patch does not read my install. I will not buy a disc for a game that I already own simply to make it work the way it did before update--largely because I cannot afford it. My apologies for the length, as I am as much venting as inquiring.

Might we expect a patch to fix this one? Is it too hopeful to expect such a thing? I cannot play the game in its updated state. It is not a huge issue, but merely disappointing. On the plus side, EA has some very good customer service agents.

  • @DeimoskaiA Version 1.69 changed the DRM. Windows 10 does NOT support SecuROM or SafeDisc the DRM the game was released with. SecuROM (often called a rootkit) which had an install limit and SafeDisc which read specially written data from the optical disc. As these DRM are no longer supported by the Windows and Mac operating systems, EA has changed the DRM to Origin (much like Steam). My computer has Windows 10 and TS3 runs without issues and I use Nraas mods. Version 1.69 removes/disables SecuROM and SafeDisc so now there is no install limit and you don't need a disc to play. You don't post specific issues. The 1.67 super patch should find the install unless you did something out of the ordinary (I can think of a few unusual install methods). I upgraded Win 7 Pro to Win 10 Pro and had to reboot a couple of times but TS3 runs fine.

That does not answer my question. Further, I do not use Windows 10, so all of that is irrelevant to me. Thank you, though.

@DeimoskaiA It does matter because that is the new DRM for ALL TS3 games/packs. You can not add to existing TS3 installations without bringing your game to Origin. Origin has been required for TS3 since 2012. To answer your question - there is no known issues with Future that need to be addressed and there is no known patch upcoming.

It does not matter, because it has nothing to do with my issue. Literally nothing. You are making assumptions which have no place here. I am merely curious of the odds of a corrective patch; a patch which shall follow 1.69, sooner or later. If you have no idea if such a patch shall ever come, or the possible odds, then I would welcome that input. Beyond that, none of what you are saying applies to my post. I thank you for it, regardless.
