Multiple Townie Portraits upon Move-in

Hello

At university when my sim moves into a place, whether a house or a dorm, when they intially land in there and the home-sweet-home music plays, a bunch of identical ugly townie girl faces appears in vertical rows where the household portraits might normally be, except there's like 3 or 4 rows instead of one, on the left of the screen. They disappear once the lot is fully caught up and ready to un-pause, like a couple of seconds after the home-sweet-home music. However, I worry it is some kind of bug and will wreck things eventually. The faces are not accompanied by present sims on the lot. In a dorm situation, a few seconds later the roommates arrive and their faces appear in the correctly positioned portraits up the left edge.

I have nraas Mover. I've never tweaked any of the settings, I don't know much about it yet. Could that be the problem? What settings on it would need to change, or will it always do that? It does seem to have been happening since I got it. But I got a few nraas mods at that time. Traveler is not in my mods folder. I don't think I downloaded that one, I don't want the travel rules to change, or to deal with that extra set of settings, I think I have enough mods.

I went on Nraas' site but I got lost in the sea of posts which are intimidating, and the modders don't seem to be there.

Does anyone know about this glitch?

  • DivinylsFan  I used to see this on my old (very old) computer, when it was struggling to keep up with the demands of the game, really only when I loaded a new save.  It's something of a loading artifact, either because the system is overwhelmed or the game engine is, which can happen sometimes when you've just completed a travel transition and perhaps in particular when you're loading a world for the first time, at least in that particular save.

This can also be because of, or exacerbated by, incompatible mods, so double-check yours if you have some that aren't from NRaas.  And of course if you have a disc install that isn't up-to-date, current mods would often be incompatible.

Aside from that, I wouldn't worry about it, especially if you don't see other signs of corruption.  Keep backups like you always would and proceed as normal.
