My child sim won't go to school.

My child sim got sick and stayed at home for a few days. However, now he is better and he still won't attend school. I have tried to press the go to school button but that doesn't work.l I have also tried resetting my game. Any ideas?

  • @emmapopss17  There are a few approaches to solving this.  Before you do anything else though, be sure to delete the five cache files in your TS3 game folder in Documents.  They should be deleted regularly anyway, as they tend to fill up with stale data.  While you're troubleshooting, delete them every time you quit the game.  For reference, the files are:

    • CASPartCache.package
    • compositorCache.package
    • scriptCache.package
    • simCompositorCache.package
    • socialCache.package

That alone probably won't solve the issue, but it's worth reloading and testing to see, since the other steps are a bit more dramatic.  The first is to delete the school in Edit Town and replace it.  The more thorough approach would be to delete the school, use "save as" to rename the save (so you have a backup), quit, clear your caches, reload, and only then place a new school in town.  Keep in mind that as soon as there's no school on the map, all students will have their school progress reset to zero, and any adults working there will be out of a job, although the game should assign a couple of teachers once the new school is in place.

An intermediate version of the above would be to place a second school and delete the first, save as, quit, delete your cache files, reload, and if you liked the original school or its location, place it again and then get rid of the second school.  I don't believe that students will lose any academic progress, and teachers will transfer their jobs back and forth as long as there's always at least one school on the map at any given time.  But it won't necessarily make your sim kid start attending school again.

The other approach would be to evict your sims and place them back in their house.  If you do this in one Edit Town session, they'll keep their jobs and relationships but lose any promised wishes and opportunities.  I think their job experience will also reset.  But the kid should go back to school.

If you use mods, there are easier ways to try to reset things, but I don't know if you have any.
