Solved

My settings reset every time I shut down my game.

I like to keep my Sims' lifespans on epic.  I also like to disable the lessons.

However, I have to do this every single time I play the game because my settings return to the default ones after I quit the game.  It's getting a little annoying. Any way I might be able to fix this?

Try running the game as administrator (right click on the icon> Run as admin), it's possible your current settings disable the game from writing in the folder in which your settings are saved, resulting in them resetting after you close the game. 🙂

@pinkswirl1342  Go into Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3 and remove the file labeled options.ini.  It might be corrupted and not saving your settings.  The graphics card message is also normal with a new copy of options.ini, or one that doesn't record the fact it already warned you about the unrecognized graphics card.  I can help you get it recognized if you want; just let me know.  But deal with the resetting options file first.

Thank you very much. I had the same problem, the game would reset the seetings every time. I removed the "options" file and that seemed to resolve the problem.
