My Sims 3 Game Is Dark - Windows 8.1

I've been having some trouble with my Sims 3 game as of late. I just recently installed Base, Late Night, Ambitions, and Pets on my 6 month old, top of the line gaming computer. I really don't feel specs are needed, because this is an lenovo erazer, with decent everything. But, I use a NVIDIA GTX 660 graphics card, in case that would be important. I have done some research, though, and am certain it is a Windows 8 problem. I started up the game and it looked fine, but when I loaded my save, I went into edit town and everything was grey/white. Someone posted on a forum that it was an issue with the fog loading and the fix was loading TS3W with Windows 7 compatibility turned on. This worked, but my entire game turned very, very dark. The most agreed upon fix for this was deleting igfxpers.exe in the processes menu of the task manager. However, because I don't use intel graphics, I don't see that process anywhere. I even typed igfxpers in my Files program - nothing. Changing the refresh rate doesn't work, alt-tabbing and going back in doesn't work, disabling display scaling doesn't work, and running the program as admin doesn't work. The only thing that does work is running the game in windowed mode, which I don't like to do. Is there a known way to fix my issue? I've had it before on another computer, but it only occured if I went back into the game after alt-tabbing, and deleting igfxpers worked - I don't see the option to do that on this computer. Thanks for any input!
