  • Hmph well I've tried playing the game again a couple of times now and it is crashing after 30 minutes now instead of 10 and there is considerable lag after about 20mins. Whay other solutions are there considering my game is up to date? Are EA releasing another patch to fix this soon?

Probably not. There might be some issues they might be addressing that can improve the performance but there's not a lot of people left on the Sims 3 team.

Most have moved on to Sims 4.

Can you play other worlds ok ?

  • Yes I can- I have all other EP's apart from Supernatural and Into the Future and I can run all other worlds fine, including Riverview and Lucky Palms, so it is only Isla Paradiso that is giving me this problem. I highly doubt the video card is the issue as it as 1GB of dedicated memory so I don't know what else can be causing this issue.

Islo Paradiso does have a lot of problems. Routing issues and the large world with an entire routable ocean are just an example.

    Things you can try:

    • Sims in Slow Motion
    • Delete the Scott Family
    • Use the cheat DiscoverAllUnchartedIslands to make all islands visible. I'm aware that this takes away from the fun but it seems to help some.
    • Make sure you have no stuck sims in your town (use the cheat resetsim * to reset all sims in your town and put them to a safe location)
    • Use Overwatch and ErrorTrap (those are mods and you'll be using at your own risk. Not supported by EA. Just google to find)
    • Check for any aboandonned boats in your game and delete them by using testingcheatsenabled true and then shift-click on the boat and choose object-delete.
    • If you're playing Hobart's Hideout, be aware of this issue: Routing Issues in the Resort Hobart’s Hideout
    • General tips for lags: Lags & Intermittent Freezes
  • I just played my Starlight Shores game and it also crashed, but this was after an hour and playing with a family of 5. So it looks like my problem is not just with my Isla Paradiso family. Why is this happening with this world too? I had this same saved game on my old laptop and it never crashed so why is this happening all of a sudden?

  • My Appaloosa Plains file is crashing also, although this was a file I had problems with on my old laptop too.

  • Are you willing to try a third party tool ? There's a tool called crash log analyzer (just google).

It's not a magic tool that can stop the crashes but it can give an indication to where the error lies. Just copy the errors you get to the clipboard and post them here.

This tool is not supported by EA so you'll be using it at your own risk

  • Well it's worth a shot I suppose. I'll try it and see where it gets me.

Ok so I downloaded it and here is what the analyzer gave me:

There seems to be a problem wirth insufficient graphics, which I am in the process of downloading new drivers for my graphics card now, but what about the other updates it's telling me about?

CLA seems to think it's running on the graphic chip. Can't tell you how the tool determines that.

Check if it helps you to update the EPs as well. Download the Patch Downloader from the same creator and patch the EPs. According to EA it's not nessary but it does seem to help some people.
