New PC, graphics seem low.

I went to play the Sims 3 for the first time yesterday after installing it on my new computer. When it loaded, all of the textures were low quality and blurry despite having almost all options set to high. I have followed a bunch of tutorials for addressing FPS, for recognising my graphics card and everything I can think of but the issue persists. Does anyone mind helping me? I think you need to see the device config so here is copy pasted

  • @sblackrose  Please delete Options.ini, in Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 3, and load the game again using its default options.  Change the in-game resolution to match your monitor, but nothing else.  If the game still looks blurry, please post a screenshot or two.  If the normal in-game screenshots (taken with C) look fine, and the problem is only on-screen, put the game into windowed mode and use Windows key-shift-S to capture that portion of the screen.

I'd like to see how the game looks with the default graphics settings, but after you've taken these screenshots, you can max out the settings again.  Just be sure to do so at the Main Menu, then quit to desktop before opening a save.  Skipping this step can result in additional graphics issues.

@puzzlezaddict thank you for your help, its beyond appreciated. I did all you suggested and then tried to change the settings again back to higher. Problem persists. This is the new device config and I will include some screenshots. Nothing I appear to be doing is helping to resolve the issue and it seems so slow to load any textures and load in general.

@sblackrose  The main issue here is that the lots aren't loaded in high-detail mode.  This is normal in general—the game lets most lots look like a blurry mess to save resources.  Increasing the number of high-detail lots helps in theory, but there are two problems with this.  One is it does still take some time to render each lot, so you'll see a delay if you're panning the camera.  The other is that Sims 3 can only use 800 MB VRAM, so information gets swapped out as necessary, meaning that you probably can't have more than about 4 high-detail lots at once (depending on their size and complexity) even if you increase the setting.  It also means that previously-rendered lots get swapped out and have to be rendered again.

If this is a problem for you, I would suggest trying the DXVK wrapper.  You can find a discussion of it here:

    https://www.reddit.com/r/Sims3/comments/1cyrct7/dxvk_and_vram/

I can't offer anything better than that myself because I haven't personally tried it, but I do hear good things... once people get the settings right.  It can take some experimenting.  But the important detail to remember is that your computer can absolutely handle whatever options you choose; it's just about keeping Sims 3 in check.

Since you have a new AMD GPU, I would also suggest this graphicsrules.sgr edit to make shadows show up:
