"Online login is currently unavailable." - Origin

Hey, 

So I purchased Sims 3 Island Paradise from origin, but when I went to log in to Origin client to download it I was unable to log in. The log in screen appears but there is an orange strip across the top with white writing that reads, "Online login is currently unavailable." When I attempt to log in, a red strip appears with, "you have to be online when logging into Origin for the first time." I am definitely connected to the internet and have a strong connection, and I have purchased 9 expansion packs through Origin so it is definitely not my first time logging in. 

I have spent 4 hours talking to EA online support team and an hour telephone conversation with their "specialist" team, and tried just about every troubleshoot possible, and it is still not working. The lady I spoke to on the phone basically told me that she had tried everything and did not know why I wasn't able to log in. I am completely out of options. All I want to do is play my new game ☹️ 

Anyone else had this problem and resolved it? Any advice would be much appreciated!
