Origin won't download The sims 3

Sims 3 won't install

I have had the game installed on my computer since 2015. It was located on the C drive and started taking up too much space so I uninstalled it today to redownload it again to my D drive. That's where my problems started, when clicking install game it just says verifying game files and then I get a message saying dowload failed. I have tried every single solution I can find online like reinstalling Origin, running it as an administrator, lowering the user access control settings etc. I also tried reinstalling the game from one of my discs but I don't have a disc version of the base game, only expansion packs so it told me to download the base game first which I only have on Origin. I don't know what else to do I have spent my whole day so far trying to fix this. I have also attached a picture of what the thumbnail for the game looks like when trying to download in case it's any help.

So I downloaded Origin and I’m attempting to download the Sims 3, however it’ll keep saying unable to download and it won’t work. I clicked on the Sims 4 to see if that would download and that works just fine. It’s only the Sims 3. I don’t know what to do so I would love if someone could help! Thanks so much🙂

I'm so glad you said something, today, and I thought it was just me!!! I have the same issue! 

Origin won't download, giving a failed download warning. I cleared all my cache, did everything! Still not working!

I have Uninstalled and Re-installed Origin per the instructions and I'm still getting this 

Hi, I've recently upgraded from a laptop to a desktop and havent used Origin or Sims on Origin (Been using PS4) so when i got my new computer I downloaded Origin and attempted to download Sims 3 and all was well until the last two expansion packs (LATE NIGHT and UNIVERSITY LIFE) weren't downloading and this message was coming up

'We're sorry, Origin was unable to download your game. Please check your internet connection, or try again later.' this didn't originally annoy me as its happened before so i waited until the next day and attempted again and the same message kept coming up and all attempts to fix it have failed. Here are some things to note;

• It doesnt come up when attempting to download other games such as Sims 4
• Wifi is working with other apps such as google, youtube and netfli

One of the main remedys was to delete and redownload Origin which I did and now Sims 3 (BASE GAME) will not download and getting the same message come up 'We're sorry, Origin was unable to download your game. Please check your internet connection, or try again later.' Ive tried to contact EA and no reply. I have no idea how to contact Origin because whenever i contact Origin it takes me to EA. Ive tried to send the Crash Reports and nothing. Desktop isn't second hand it is brand new and apart from this Origin is working fine and have no other issues

I dont really want to play Sims 4 on PC since I have all the expansions bought on my PS4 and was really exicted to return back to Sims 3. PLEASE HELP!!!

I’ve been having the exact same issue with the same game (Sims 3) my sims 4 works fine, I think it’s a problem with the game itself. 💔 it just started today after I deleted the sims 3 and tried to reinstall it.

I fixed it!!!! 

I started trying to google for solutions again and I stumbled on a different thread of someone having the same issue. The latest reply was posted an hour ago and it said to dowload the ea app and it took me 6 minutes to install The Sims 3  with all my 12 additional packs.

I also had this issue today and I found on another thread that you needed to install the EA app and it worked immediately for me! 

https://www.ea.com/ea-app-beta The app uninstalled origin so I'm guessing they are in the process of switching platforms or something
