That really did not help because the question still remains - Do I pick Region 1 for the USA or do I pick Region 7 for the digital? I have the physical disc, but I'm guessing I do not use the disc but that it will know open from the Origin download. Or do I still use the disc to run the game? This is so confusing or I am just not smart enough to understand what is being said.
At the beginning of the guide, in relation to your disc error, it states "The easiest way round these error messages is to play the game using a digital copy..." and then goes on to explain, step by step, what you must do to play the digital version of the game. Steps 4 & 5 explain that you are to uninstall and reinstall the digital version of your most recent (by release date) EP/SP. Step 7 then explains what patch to use, the digital one.
Whilst I know computers can be daunting sometimes, the best way to learn is by trying things yourself - we all had to start somewhere! 🙂

Okay, since the game keeps asking for the disc, I am going to download the region 1 patch for the physical disc. If I download the wrong one and install it, can I uninstall that patch? And if so how.

@annie53 what has been advised and what will help you is to uninstall your latest EP / SP and then reinstall digitally.
Please follow the instructions linked by @Bluebellflora in her above posts and let us know how you get on

Okay, I followed all the directions. I downloaded Origins, I deleted generations, I downloaded generations from Origin, I downloaded and install the digital super patch, and then I ran my game. I am still getting the message that no disc is found and my game will not open and play. Where do I go from here? I really do not want to uninstall everything and then reinstall it because that cause more problems than ever because I lose everything that I created - my houses, my people, my patterns, and my downloads.
Any useful suggestions would really be appreciated since the one everyone else claims work doesn't work for me.

Completely uninstalling and reinstalling maybe the only option for you. Before you do so move your Sims 3 folder from Documents > Electronic Arts onto your desktop. All your saves, downloads, CC, Mods etc will be safe then for you to import into your clean install.

I dislike doing a complete uninstall and reinstall because basically it is a pain. I did finally get it working one time. I just saved it and quit. I will see if it will work next weekend when I will once again have time to just play. I'm hoping it will work again, so I will not have to contemplate a drastic move. Thanks for you time and help - I really do appreciate it.
