Sims 3 won't launch, no error

I was playing Sims 3 for a week or so then the next time I tried to launch it, it gave me the error of a problem on EA's part.

Been troubleshooting for the past few weeks and now there is no error. Every time I try to launch it, it goes straight back to EA Desktop.

I've been going through the forums here trying to find solutions and nothing has worked for me so far.

I ran a DXDiag and attached it.

  • Minnie326  Were you originally getting this error?

    Failed to launch game
An error on our end caused the launch to fail. Try again a little later.

It's common for Sims 4 but not so much for Sims 3, and I don't know of a fix or workaround yet.  But if you're not seeing it at all now, even after restarting your computer, then it's a moot point.

The errors in your dxdiag, and thanks for providing it, mostly have to do with .NET Framework 3.5, which Sims 3 uses.  So try uninstalling and reinstalling it.  Click Windows key-R, enter appwiz.cpl in the run box, click "Turn Windows features on or off," and the .NET entries will be near the top of the list.  Click the filled-in box next to .NET 3.5 to uninstall, and restart your computer.  Repeat the process, clicking the now-empty box to reinstall, and restart.  If it's already uninstalled, you can install it and restart.

If you get an error when trying to reinstall .NET 3.5, please post a screenshot of it.

Somehow, this managed to fix it! Crazy how the fix was hidden in the system and nobody on other help forums mentioned it. Thank you! Hopefully if anybody else needs help like I did, they'll stumble across this fix.
