I know you mean well, but your comments haven't really been helpful. The whole point of this is that EA has had plenty of time to test their software on an upcoming new Operating System. It is just blatant laziness that they didn't. It is worse yet that they are not saying anything to the community affected.
Downgrading to Snow Leopard is NOT a solution. The only solution a software company should be doing is fixing their broken software.
I'm sure for those who didn't consider backtracking to Snow Leopard so that they can continue to play while it's being worked out that my comments were useful.
Regarding the vitriol, I'll backtrack to my earlier comment about being an early adopter. Any time a brand new major upgrade to an operating system happens, there are going to be things that get missed or don't work. I've been dealing with major OS upgrades since Mac OS 6, so I've seen plenty.
I agree that EA should fix the software, and I'm sure they will, if it is their power to do so (remember, they don't write the video drivers, and are dependent upon Apple to do so). If Apple doesn't give them a workable video driver, there's little they can do.
I realize that people are looking at the specs and saying that they "promised" that the software would work on any machine that had 10.5.7 and above (or whatever exactly it was), however that's not even true. They indicated the working environment that was necessary for that particular game or EP at the time it was released.
BTW, I'm using a MacBook 13" with the Nvidia GForce 9400M video card.
Although backtracking and running a separate drive with a backed-up OS and game isn't an option for everyone, it may be an option for some, so I still tender that it's a good option while EA and Apple work out what's going on. It's really in Apple's interest to get this fixed, because if Macs don't run all the cool games (and there's no cooler game than Sims, of course) then kids (and bigger kids) won't want to buy Macs. It's really simple economics.
Best to all,
