Please Help! My sims 3 game has started freezing for no reason : (

I have a major problem making me very sad. My Sims 3 game has started to freeze and I have no idea why. It started acting up a few months after playing by freezing whenever I tried to switch households. I installed Zoo tycoon 2 and played it only once, it was boring I did not really like it. So a few weeks later I tried my sims game again and I could only play for a few minutes when the game would just freeze. Sounds would still play but nothing would move for a few minutes or when I minimize the game. It freezes probably every 2 minutes or so and after a while I just have to close the game cause it wont start at all. Soo I thought maybe zoo tycoon was somehow messing it up so I went to uninstall it and a window with the Sims 3 logo popped up asking me if I wanted to uninstall zoo tycoon which was very strange. Why didn't a zoo tycoon window pop up? But I uninstalled it anyways and my sims game loaded fine but still kept freezing. I have tried EVERYTHING! I cleared the cache files and cleaned my disk. The disk isn't dirty or scratched. I have a new HP laptop with 6 gb of ram and everything else exceeds the requirements for Sims 3 and up until this last month it has ran perfect. I don't know if anyone knows what could be causing this. Please help or give me some suggestions.

I have tried the resetsim * cheat, does not work. I have been playing fine for about 4 months now out of the blue it is freezing. I have a brand new windows 8 HP Envy, I know it is not my computer, it is something with the game. My computer exceeds all the requirements and once again it is only recently It is freezing and unplayable. It did  not even do this on my old computer. I am very frustrated and about to quit the Sims all together. I played fine for months and now ti suddenly has stopped. I have been playing on Appaloosa plains the whole time. I am not gonna make a new game and start over only to have it all happen again. Can't they make a patch to fix this because there is tons of people with the same issue. It starts to freeze every few seconds almost immediately after I start to play. I will delete the cars from my Sims inventory but doubt that will help.  Very disappointed I spent money on these games only to have so many problems. The sims 4 comes out In a year and I doubt I will buy it if it has issues like the Sims 3.

And I do not have any custom content. I usually only play the game for 2 hours at a time but now it is unplayable pretty much.

Could you try a new game for testing reasons to see if it's the game as such or just that particular savegame.

Long played games do tend to get overloaded with stuff like cars and other objects that don't get cleaned out properly by the game.

Did the resetsim * cheat not do anything or not help with the issue ? Were your sims reset and placed to a save location ?

The resetsim cheats did put the sims back in a safe location but it still kept freezing. I could try a new game but I have not even played that much on the town I have the original sims, there kids and then 2 grankids in my house and a few pets. I went on smaller households but they froze too. I guess I could try a new town but I don't want the same thing to happen in time ha I just want to play the game without glitches...
