Re: Sims 3 store content won't stay installed

I have this issue like a year now and I'm extremely frustrated knowing I've chatted with EMEA a lot of times and they can't find a solution.

I'm using Steam to open the game. Any tips for this app are welcome

I just can't understand how they are not able to fix this issue for such a long long time.

So freaking dissapointed really.

  • @dilarake  Please try installing the content into a clean user folder.  Move the entire Sims 3 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop, open the launcher to spawn a new folder, download one store item, install it, and see whether it shows up in-game.  If it does, restart your computer and test again, just to be thorough.  If it still works, you can download the rest of your content, but please do so in batches (no more than six items at a time, and world separately), as the launcher doesn't handle large amounts of content very well.

Once your store content is working, you can move your saves and any other content you want to keep from the old Sims 3 folder to the new one.  Here's a description of everything in the user folder in case it helps:

If the above doesn't work, please let me know, and I'd also like to know whether there's any difference at all from how the content has failed to show up previously.  And please list your antivirus, if you use a third-party program.

As a side note, I have a Steam install and reinstalled a bunch of store stuff a month ago, so I know the process still works overall.  It can be finicky though.

  • @dilarake  I've split your post into its own thread because the other thread is about a very specific issue that only happens when launching Sims 3 through the EA App.

Please describe what happens to your store content: does it not download, does it download but not install, does it install but disappear later?  Is OneDrive running on your computer, whether you use it or not, and how full is it?  Do you see any Sims 3 data inside its Documents folder?

Additionally, if you see any error message associated with this issue, please either post a screenshot or write out the text.

    Thanks!

I can download all the stuff I purchased from the sims 3 store.
I can also instal it, but when I look at the 'installed' stuff it shows it is not installed + nothing from the sims 3 store is available in the game.

    I don't use one drive.

You deserve the Nobel prize for this.  Literally the only thing that worked.  I cannot believe EA just leaves these issues for years without fixing them, it's shameful.
