Serial code invalid

Question

Hi!I got a BRAND NEW The Sims 3 game. I was successfully installing it, when all of a sudden it says my serial number is INVALID. It's already been used?! This disc was a present and BRAND NEW! Nobody's used this! Help! Please, EA and Origins I expect better!
