Basically my PC refuses to play my installed version of The Sims three due to my graphics card not being 'good enough'. I've been looking around and heard that having directx 9.0 runs shader model 2.0 but mines 9.0c which is meant to be able to run shader model 3.0!?That's basically my first inquiry, my second is on how to run it on window mode. I have no absolute desire to buy a new graphics card at this very second and apparently running it on window mode will eliminate the need for shader model 2.0- along with dampening down some of the graphics.I would be very pleased if you could answer with speed as I have been waiting a long time to get this product and so far it has just irritated me.-Alastair

You can change that in the options.ini (fullscreen = 1) or in the options ingame (graphic tab)What graphic card do you have ?

I believe it is a 'sis 661FX/GX Mirage' I think. I may be looking at the wrong thing. I would like to say that I have heard about the fullscreen=1 thing but have never been able to find the options.ini file. I've heard it's meant to be on the first page and I do have a load of files displayed but none with such a title...And I can't even run the game so any ingame options will just not work... Which I'm just guessing is what you meant by the second option.

The file might just be called options if you don't display known endings.It's in documents\electronicarts\thesims3

I believe I have tried that too. It may be worth mentioning that the game is originally Russion (or Latvian, but I think I was right the first time), that may have a difference on what files are saved where...

But you do have a documens\electronicarts\thesims 3 folder ?

That is weird. Is that the whole folder ? Did you delete the cache files or are you missing those too ?
There are also a few folder that you are missing. Are you updated to the latest patch ?
Did you delete any of these folder:
- FeaturedItems
- Collections
- Custom Music
- CurrentGame.sims3
- IGACache

Honestly i haven't altered them in the slightest... Including deleting of files... And yes I've updated. Ill redo the whole `delete the folder and let it make a new one and see if it creates any more files` but i don't think it Will

Just done it now- file exactly the same, game still wont work... What is weird (although Im pretty sure has nothing to do with anything) is the fact that when I go onto it and it shows my profile it keeps sayin I have a message- so I click on it and it takes me to my profilebon the sims 3 website but no messages at all...

Yes. You're issue is so strange, I don't know how to solve it.
Have you tried reinstalling the entire game ?
