SIM 3 UNIVERSITY STUDENTS ARE ALL OLD

I have a second generation sim that went to University.  There are hardly and sims there and the few that are there are old.  The last time this happened I sent my sim home and moved the family to another town then I sent them back to university and everyone was young.  Because they "dropped out" that sim didn't reap any benefits from University.  As a matter of fact she got all A's and her final grade was an F. 

My question is this, how can I send my sim to University without everyone being geriatric?

I appreciate any help because this is very annoying.

    I'm not.  It has happened more than once.  I have had to save my family to the bin in Edit Town to be able to play at the University with young sims.

    The first generation was in University too.  I'm still a little confused.  Do I need to wait until the first generation that went to University to pass away?  Or do I need to change the life span of my sims?  I have my elderly life span at 2 days but they live a long time.  I guess they are happy haha!
