Sims 3 64-bit

Okay so if i add a folder in my sims 3 folder callled "Mods" my game won't open from launcher. If i rename the folder my game will open but there will be no cc that I downloaded in game. Is this a 64 bit issue or something else.

  • @thecultandi  Please create or download a new Mods framework, download one mod that you know works with current patch levels (or just use NoIntro and NoBuildSparkles from the MTS Mods framework), delete the cache files:

    • CASPartCache.package
    • compositorCache.package
    • scriptCache.package
    • simCompositorCache.package
    • socialCache.package

and let me know whether the mods work.  If they don't, please make sure you added the mods to the Sims 3 folder that's stored locally on your computer, not the one in iCloud.

  • Hi there,

I'm using Mac with mods package and have no issue with it. Please check and make sure that your Mods folder have subfolders Overrides and Packages, with Resource.cfg file as well.

If you don't have the resource file, I will find the link for you to download it. Also, please make sure that the game script mod may be invalid and cause the game not start.

  • I have subfolders in and the resource.cfg as well. Where do I check for the game script mod?

  • @thecultandi  Have you been deleting the five cache files in Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 3?  They should be deleted any time you add or remove content from that folder.  For reference, the files are:

    • CASPartCache.package
    • compositorCache.package
    • scriptCache.package
    • simCompositorCache.package
    • socialCache.package

Otherwise, does the game load if you nave nothing in the Mods folder except for resource.cfg and an empty Packages folder?  Please check, just to be thorough, and if it doesn't work, trash the Mods folder, download a new copy of resource.cfg, and set up the Mods framework again.

If the game works with an empty Packages folder, please download a fresh copy of one mod or cc item, place it in Packages, and delete the cache files again, then test.  Let me know whether it works.

Ok so now my game is opening with a file being called 'Mods' the issue is it's not reading any of my package cc or the store content i've downloaded into the launcher.

so the game ran with the new mods folder with the nointro and nobuildsparkles in but once i added my cas and nraas stuff the launcher when i pressed the play button just sends me right back to origin and its incredibly frustrating. Thank you so much for the help but idk if this is fix able i have done everything

is there a max amount of files or size the mods folder can be because it ran with nraas mods but won't run with my cas objects, so is this a size issue. Also thank you so much for the help you are everywhere and in different threads I've also tried implementing your help.

@thecultandi  There is no hard limit to the number of mods you can use, although the game will slow down past a certain point.  But the more likely scenario here is that one or more of your other .package files is a problem.  Since the game loads with NRaas mods but not with all the other files, the next step is to try a few of the others at a time and see whether at least some of them work.

Be sure to delete the cache files before each test.

So the issue was very ridiculous. Inside my package folder I label what cc is what like eyelashes and stuff as a file and then put eyelash cc in it. I guess there's a word limit for that so I just changed my file names to 1-4 letters like nraas worked.  Its so weird but it worked and my game now has cc.
