sims 3 a serious error has occurred

Question

i've been editing the whole of monte vista for the past month, editing every single family and every single lot in preparation for a new family i want to play. i'm a perfectionist when it comes to sims, everything has to look the way i want it to for my gameplay to be rich! i made sooo much progress and i would literally work for hours and hours until two days ago. i tried to save and quit my game and i got an error code 12 message: 'An unexpected error has occurred while saving: Error Code 12. Please consult the readme for details.' and i know that when this message pops up there is nothing one can do apart from just quit the game and lose any progress they made, but i really didn't want to do that. i read somewhere that if you make a sim travel to one of the WA worlds after getting error code 12, you are able to save and quit your game from there. so i did that and i saved and quit and it was all fine and then i went onto the game yesterday to make my sim return home to monte vista and i really didn't think there would be any problems. i pressed on her phone to make her return home and the loading screen came up which is completely normal and then suddenly after a few minutes of the loading bar moving the screen went black and a message popped up saying: 'A serious error has occurred while loading 'italian flowers.sims3:Monte Vista_0x0de07c83. It is strongly recommended that you restart the application.' so i restarted the application COUNTLESS of times and would click the phone for her to return home and the loading screen would come up and the same message would end up popping up. i've read just about everything on this problem and have tried so many ways to fix this but nothing is working and i just have a feeling im going to have to let this go and lose all my progress i just really dont want to ☹️ i was so excited to start properly playing...

i read that if you have different tabs or folders open while you play the sims it could lead to this error, but i never play with any tabs or folders on in the background. i have a few nraas mods like errortrap, mastercommander, overwatch, storyprogression and a few more and i literally have like 4 cc items that are just old cars. apparently nraas traveler mod helps with travelling issues or something like that so i downloaded it yesterdayl but it hasn't helped.

if anyone could help me with this i would really really appreciate it! <3 x

@willowcloud9&nbsp; It sounds like the instance of Monte Vista may have been corrupted, unfortunately.&nbsp; Adding ErrorTrap and Overwatch could help, but there's no guarantee: the world might be too corrupted to recover.

Be sure to delete the five cache files in your Sims 3 folder (the one in Documents\Electronic Arts).&nbsp; These files should be deleted regularly anyway, and in particular any time you're troubleshooting.&nbsp; For reference, they are:

CASPartCache.package
compositorCache.package
scriptCache.package
simCompositorCache.package
socialCache.package

Please also delete any files in the CurrentGame folder in the same place.&nbsp; This folder should always be empty unless your game is open and a save is loaded, but sometimes data doesn't get deleted when you save.

If you don't want to add more mods, or those two mods don't help, try recovering the automatic backup save.&nbsp; Go into Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Saves, and you'll see a folder for your current save and another folder with a .backup extension; this represents the second-to-last time you saved.&nbsp; So if your save is named Monte Vista, you'll have a folder labeled Monte Vista.sims3, and another labeled Monte Vista.sims3.backup.&nbsp; Delete the .backup extension and rename the save (e.g. Monte Vista 1.save), and it should be available to load from the Main Menu.

If this backup save doesn't load, there are a couple other approaches, but there's no guarantee they'll work.&nbsp; Let me know how things go.

@puzzlezaddict thank you for your reply! i've tried all these methods and still nothing has changed. i think i'm just going to have to move on and start fresh. also i feel like i must have deleted the .backup extension because i don't see it anymore in my saves folder. maybe that was the problem all along...
anyways thank you for replying so quickly i'll keep doing some research but i think i'm out of luck ☹️ x

@willowcloud9&nbsp; I'm sorry to hear that.&nbsp; If you have any other backup saves, you could try those.&nbsp; You could also try loading the save in an otherwise clean user data folder.&nbsp; If you move your entire Sims 3 folder out of Documents\Electronic Arts, a new folder will spawn the next time you open the launcher.&nbsp; Install Monte Vista and copy over the save, but don't add anything else, not even store or custom content that you know you used in your remodels.&nbsp; This is just to see whether you can get it to load at all.

If you're not interested in jumping through hoops for an uncertain outcome though, that's understandable.

I moved my entire Sims3 folder out of Documents/Electronic Arts as suggested and when I ran the game after doing this, Sims started over fresh like I had never played before.

Had to re-download all of my purchases.

I moved my Saves back into this new folder and so my families were there, but some were unplayable because I had an expansion pack activated at the time that I've since deleted I think.

Just a heads up.
