What I would first suggest is doing a factory reset: http://answers.ea.com/t5/The-Sims-3/FAQ-Troubleshooting-Steps/td-p/714

Then, I would check if your graphics card is compatible here: http://simswiki.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:System_Requirements/MTS2_Recommendations

Also, can you tell me: what is your operating system?

Thanks, I will try that out- I can never remember how to spell the town's name so I just call it Island Paradise lol. It does seem like there must have been something wrong with Sims 3 as well because the reset to factory default seems to have improved perfomance as well. Thank you for answering so quickly.
