Sims 3 'already running'

I turned my laptop on earlier this week after not having played sims for a while. I was forced to update from origin to the EA app and since then, my game has stopped working. I can click on sims 3 and it will open the launcher, but as soon as I click play, it flicks back to the ea app to tell me that 'the sims 3 is already running'. I have spent every day this week trying to solve this issue, with no response from EA I am at my wits end. I have uninstalled and re installed both the EA app and the sims 3, I have check to make sure my antivirus is not blocking anything, I have tried changing permissions suggested in other threads and literally cannot think of anything else to try. PLEASE help!!!!

  • Try going to task manager and find the task called sims launcher and end that task.

  • @charlieallisonxo  If OneDrive is running on this computer, please pause syncing before trying to play.

If that doesn't help, please create a new admin Windows account and try playing in that.  Make it local, as in, don't use your Microsoft-linked email.  You'll be able to sign into the EA App and (try to) launch Sims 3 without reinstalling anything, but your saves and other user data won't be available.  That's fine for now; this is just a test.
