Sims 3 asking for update??

So, after being forced by the ea app to update Sims 3 a couple of days ago, many of my cc files and downloads have stopped working. The majority of my files are store-bought or just recolours from the exchange.

The launcher says, "Installation failed. Please update your software." As far as I am aware, it should be fully updated. These are all items that have worked previously.

Any ideas? or help? I just want to use my swiftgro station and my cow corral!

  • I have the same problem since the update. Today the items are back, except the items I purchased yesterday, they give me that "installation failed"-message.

I bought the cow corral a long time ago, never find it in my game ☹️

    Hi there!

I'm not sure what's causing you folks those problems. I have the same items from the store plus a couple from the exchange and I didn't have a problem with those due to the update. However, it is true that the update did mess up with some people mods and it might be possible that something in the way you had your content installed made it recognize them as mods (since they are .package files, but I highly doubt so). I'd recommend you try the following:

    1. Uninstall the content that's causing you problems.
    2. Run the game without that content (just until you get to the main menu should be fine).
    3. Download and run Regul Save Cleaner This external program will help you get rid of unnecessary files that might be affecting your game. However, make sure you select the cleaning options that are convenient for you. For example, you might not want to remove your family portraits.
    4. Reinstall the content that was causing you problems as you would do normally. Run the game again and check if now everything is working as it should.
    5. If nothing of that works for you, I'd suggest you uninstalling the content once again and re-installing it using CC Magic. Here's a tutorial that will guide you through with this installation.
    6. If even that doesn't work, I'd suggest you uninstall a re-install the game entirely (which might be tiresome but for the best).

I hope all that helps you find the right solution! Feel free to tell me how that went and in case it hasn't worked, I'll try to come up with another possible fix!

  • vkinjecta malinvallstrom  Please rename or move the Sims 3 folder in Documents > Electronic Arts, open the launcher to create a new folder, and see whether you can install one item into that folder.  If it works, you'll need to rebuild your user folder, as described here:

If it doesn't work, try a different item in another clean folder, preferably something from the Store (not the Exchange) so that we know it works properly.
