sims 3 cannot install Patch

Question

I've tried to install patch 1020063817 several times and it doesn't work.&nbsp; Sometimes when I'm prompted to install it I also get a Script Error, that says it's a Syntax Error.&nbsp; Sometimes the launcher says my game is up to date, but everytime I try to run Sims 3 it wants to install the patch.&nbsp; It appears to be installing (I have to wait a few hours for the 1.1 gb file to download), but doesn't and I can't play the game unless I choose not to install the patch.&nbsp; Also game play has become extremely choppy and unusuable.&nbsp; I may also need a new video card, so not sure if gameplay is related to the patch or not.

What is your base game version right now ?

To find out, open your launcher and hover over the little base game icon in the lower left part of the launcher. It should say 1.42.

The version when I hover over the Sims 3 icon is 1.17.60.009001The version of my latest EP is 6.0.81.009001
