@LittleMissMolly9 Please make sure the "run without custom content" box in the launcher is unchecked; you can find it in the Installed Content tab, above and to the right of the list of installed items. Please also delete the five cache files in your Sims 3 game folder in Documents\Electronic Arts. They should be deleted regularly anyway, and also every time you add or remove content from that folder. For reference, the files are:
- CASPartCache.package
- compositorCache.package
- scriptCache.package
- simCompositorCache.package
- socialCache.package
If that doesn't help, please go into DCCache and delete any files that have the ending .dbc—these are bundles of third-party content. (The .ebc files are store content, so leave those.) If you've downloaded any sims or lots, please also delete the corresponding entries in Library or SavedSims. (Some sims and all housholds are in Library, and some individual sims' files will be in SavedSims.) The files are often named cryptically, but you can sort by date and find the ones that correspond to when you installed your custom content.
Then reinstall just one Sims3Pack, delete the cache files again, and load the game to test. Let me know whether it works.
@puzzlezaddict Thanks for the quick reply! The box in the launcher is unchecked and I have deleted the mentioned caches and the .dbc files. I have not downloaded any sims or lots so that shouldn't be part of the issue. When I opened the launcher back up to reinstall one of the .sims3packs like you suggested, I noticed that all the cc had become uninstalled in the launcher, so I reinstalled it which it did without issue and opened the game but still no luck. I exited the game and opened the launcher and again, it seems that the launcher has uninstalled all of the cc?
@LittleMissMolly9 The point of moving the .dbc file(s) was to manually remove all installed custom content. Then you can test-install just one item, and let me know whether it works. There are several different issues this could be, and therefore several different approaches that may or may not be helpful.
Please again delete all .dbc files from DCCache, delete the five cache files listed, restart your computer just for good measure, and install only one item to test.
Yes, that's worked now thank you so much you're a lifesaver!
@LittleMissMolly9 Okay, is the new content all installed now? Would you like to add your old content back? Let me know if you need any more help.
