Sims 3 crash when Sim gives birth

I downloaded the Sims 3 64bit on my macbook yesterday and it was fine apart from a bit of lag here and there but whenever my sim gives birth at the hospital it crashes. It's happened 3 times and the furthest I've gone is giving traits to the baby. I have no mods installed besides custom content but I only have around 50 pieces.

@kawaiisizzie  Just in case, have you tried letting your sim have a home birth instead of going to the hospital?  You might not get the traits you want, although you can change them later, but it's possible that would work.

You can try bulldozing the hospital and replacing it, in case the lot is bugged.  This would make any sims that work there lose their jobs, so if you don't want that to happen, place a second hospital somewhere else in the world first, and don't delete it until you've replaced the first.

You could also try evicting the sims and placing them back on their home lot in Edit Town.  They'll keep their jobs and relationships but lose their promised wishes and opportunities.  This is the most thorough non-mod-related reset in the game.

@malanbtlr  That absolutely could be the problem.  If you have custom content that's miscategorized as valid for babies, the game could crash trying to assign or render the cc.

Please move your entire Sims 3 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop.  Open the launcher to spawn a clean folder.  Copy over only your Saves folder, nothing else.  Then try to play through the birth and see what happens.

If you do exactly that and you still see custom content in the launcher, let me know; it's likely an issue with iCloud drive syncing.

@puzzlezaddict Hey thanks for answering so quickly. I moved the sims 3 folder into electronic arts and placed it on the desktop then opened the launcher and the problem didn't resolve itself so im guessing maybe I missed a step?

@Axs701Sxa5519  Are you having the original issue: that your game crashes when a sim gives birth?  This is most often caused by bad custom content, although that's not the only cause.  The clean folder addresses potential bad cc and corrupt mods, which is why it's the place to start.

If you're able to load your current save after moving the Sims 3 folder but without doing anything else, then something went wrong in the process.  Please rename the Sims 3 folder on your desktop, if you have one there; something like Sims 3 backup is fine.  Then move the Sims 3 folder that's currently in Documents\Electronic Arts onto your desktop instead.  Launch the game, load to the Main Menu, make sure there are no saves available to load.  If there are, stop here and let me know.

If there are no saves, quit the game.  Go into the Saves folder inside each of the Sims 3 folders on your desktop and look for a folder with your save name.  Right-click on the folder and select Copy, then open Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Saves, right-click in the blank space, and select Paste.  This save should be available to load at the Main Menu, but the rest of your content won't be present.

Let me know whether you still get a crash.
