Sims 3 crashes when placing mirrors

I have been having this issue for quite some time, but could never find an answer for it. The Sims 3 game crashes any time I try to place mirrors. It didn't do this originally when I first installed the game, but as soon as the first update was installed, or I installed a new expansion pack, it would crash any time I tried to place mirrors. The screen goes black, and flashes in and out before finally just shutting down. Nothing seems to be wrong with my computer, my computer is fully updated, and I noticed that when I tried installing Sims 3 on another computer, it does the same thing. How can I fix this, as I still like to play Sims 3
