Sims 3 crashing on MacBook

Hello fellow simmers, I need your help!!!!!

I have never really been able to play the sims3 on my current MacBook but recently ive cleared space and have been able to run the game. I can enter CAS and that runs very smoothly but as soon as I try and move them into a home the game crashes.

I will attach what type my macbook is.

I have reinstalled and repaired the game many, many times and still nothing. Ive read most answers on here and even spoken to someone at EA and they don't  know and have referred me to here.

I do not use any mods or cc only base game and a few expansion pack, I will list below which ones.

SIms 3 Base Game (64bit)

Sims 3 Island Paradise

Sims 3 Town  Life Stuff

Sims 3 University life

Sims 3 Seasons

Sims 3 Generations

Sims 3 High-end Loft stuff

SIms 3 Outdoor Living Stuff

Sims 3 Ambitions

Sims. 3 Pets

I play in origin, same as my sims 4 and that runs perfectly.

Sometimes if the game does manage to work,  it will work for a split second then the screen goes almost fully black and flashes before saying "Sims 3 has unexpectedly crashed"

Or it will crash as soon as I try choose a house.

Please if anyone has any suggestions, I would love some help.

Im so close to just buying a new laptop to just dedicate my sims to.

  • @kirstenjanem123  The issue here may well be the Pets expansion.  Try playing without it to see whether it helps.  Go into Applications or Users > your username > Applications, wherever you've installed Sims 3, and you'll see a "The Sims 3 Packs" folder with one subfolder per pack.  Drag the EP05 folder to your desktop, and Pets will be effectively uninstalled.  (You can "reinstall" it by restoring this folder at any time.)  Then start another new save and see whether the problem is still present.

If you do decide to get a new computer on which to play Sims 3, feel free to ask for advice here.  The ARM Macs all run the game very well, with some weird exceptions that are typically user error, but not always.  A Windows laptop or desktop built for gaming and capable of running Sims 3 on ultra graphics settings can cost as little as $700 U.S., perhaps a bit more in other countries, or less during sales.
