Sims 3 disc and online expansion packs

From what you wrote it sounds like the patch was just being wonky...I'm not surprised as it's done this to a lot of people. Here's some instructions:
---I know you said you uninstalled everything, but try following these instructions for a clean uninstall so we know we're starting from scratch: http://bluebellflora.com/ts3-on-a-mac/how-to-do-a-clean-uninstall-and-reinstall-on-a-mac-2
---Next, install the base game. Once it's installed, you need to try patching the game manually using the SuperPatch. For Mac instructions on the SuperPatch look here, do not use the incremental one, just the SuperPatch: http://forum.thesims3.com/jforum/posts/list/549552.page
---After it's patched open up your game and see if it works. If it does, install the next SP or EP you have. (try to follow the order they were released in: https://help.ea.com/article/the-sims-3-installation-order) After the EP or SP is added, it may say "your base game is more recent than expected...blah blah" but you can safely ignore that message you will have used the SuperPatch correctly for your base game.--Finally, happily Sim with a working game.
I hope this clarifies things a bit and it works out for you! Let me know if you get stuck somewhere along the way and I'll try to help, before you keep going. Good Luck!

Hey Hey again...
So the "we cannot verify" thing is a very common error for Mac people. There's no permanent solution to the problem other than a work-around through Origin. It's not your disc's fault or your computer. It's the game. It hates Macs and Mac people (<---my personal opinion).
-Is your OS 10.6.8 or higher? (You can check by clicking on the "About this Mac" option under the Apple icon in the top left corner of your computer.
-Are your games registered? or do you have the codes available to use and register?
IF the answers to both those questions are a "yes," then you can use Origin to get around this problem.
1) Download the Origin Application. The Mac link to it in the FAQ here: http://forum.thesims3.com/jforum/posts/list/644084.page
2) Log in with the same email address and password you use for your Sims account. If your games are registered on the Sims site, they will show up under the "my games" tab. If they are there, you should uninstall your last EP (that is whatever disc you would insert to play the game). Once it is uninstalled, you can reinstall it from Origin as a digital download (for free! since it's registered). This way you won't have to worry about the disc at all. If you've never registered the games before and they are not in Origin, use the "redeem a code" option to add both of them to your account.
I hope this helps you. I know it's annoying to get this game to work on our systems, but at least you'll be able to play it for a little bit once you get passed all this.
