Sims 3 disc and online expansion packs

Hey guys.. i'm new to the online community.

I wanted to ask- if I have the  original sims 3 disc installed on my computer that I use to play, can I download the expansion packs that I DON'T have from the origin store? Will they be compatible with the disc version that I have on my computer? Or will I need to purchase the online sims 3 base game in order to buy new expansion packs online?

Thanks,

From what you wrote it sounds like the patch was just being wonky...I'm not surprised as it's done this to a lot of people.  Here's some instructions:

---I know you said you uninstalled everything, but try following these instructions for a clean uninstall so we know we're starting from scratch: http://bluebellflora.com/ts3-on-a-mac/how-to-do-a-clean-uninstall-and-reinstall-on-a-mac-2

---Next, install the base game.  Once it's installed, you need to try patching the game manually using the SuperPatch.  For Mac instructions on the SuperPatch look here, do not use the incremental one, just the SuperPatch: http://forum.thesims3.com/jforum/posts/list/549552.page

---After it's patched open up your game and see if it works.  If it does, install the next SP or EP you have.  (try to follow the order they were released in: https://help.ea.com/article/the-sims-3-installation-order)  After the EP or SP is added, it may say "your base game is more recent than expected...blah blah" but you can safely ignore that message you will have used the SuperPatch correctly for your base game.

--Finally, happily Sim with a working game.

I hope this clarifies things a bit and it works out for you!  Let me know if you get stuck somewhere along the way and I'll try to help, before you keep going.  Good Luck!

    Hey Hey again...

So the "we cannot verify" thing is a very common error for Mac people.  There's no permanent solution to the problem other than a work-around through Origin.  It's not your disc's fault or your computer.  It's the game.  It hates Macs and Mac people  (<---my personal opinion).

-Is your OS 10.6.8 or higher?  (You can check by clicking on the "About this Mac" option under the Apple icon in the top left corner of your computer.

-Are your games registered?  or do you have the codes available to use and register?

IF the answers to both those questions are a "yes," then you can use Origin to get around this problem.

    1)  Download the Origin Application.  The Mac link to it in the FAQ here: http://forum.thesims3.com/jforum/posts/list/644084.page

    2)  Log in with the same email address and password you use for your Sims account.  If your games are registered on the Sims site, they will show up under the "my games" tab.  If they are there, you should uninstall your last EP (that is whatever disc you would insert to play the game).  Once it is uninstalled, you can reinstall it from Origin as a digital download (for free! since it's registered).  This way you won't have to worry about the disc at all.  If you've never registered the games before and they are not in Origin, use the "redeem a code" option to add both of them to your account.

I hope this helps you.  I know it's annoying to get this game to work on our systems, but at least you'll be able to play it for a little bit once you get passed all this.

Okay so it originally worked, reinstalled the sims 3, downloaded the super patch, extracted the file etc etc. Then I installed the sims 3 world adventures by disc, and the first few times I played it was fine, but this time an error message has come up straight away telling me that "We cannot verify that your disc is a valid copy, please contact customer service."

What did I do wrong this time? Lol I can't believe how difficult it is to play the sims.

a couple of people are saying the same thing as you " We cannot verify that your disc is a valid copy"

contacting CS may fix that one for you

They can be found here: https://help.ea.com/contact-us
Choose a category, a game and a platform for the contact options to show up.
If live chat is gray, change your country to US and make sure you're on US Business hours. It might also gray because they're very busy. Try later.
See this post if you have trouble with the site: http://sims3.crinrict.com/en/2012/10/how-to-contact-ea.html

Haha im also convinced that they hate Mac and Mac people too. But it hasn't come up again yet. I downloaded the next Stuff pack and the Ambitions EP, and  I haven't tried playing it yet. Ill see what happens, but thanks for the advice. Much appreciated 🙂

Okay, so far I have done the following:

-Installed the base game from disc, uploaded the super patch and it worked. I have a 10.8.4 version of mountain lion so there should be no problems. I then installed world adventures by disc.

-Then, I installed the Stuff pack High end loft stuff drom the Origin website and downloaded it. I did the same with Ambitions and then with Fast Lane SP. Now im ready to install late night by disc, so how do I upload that, register it and then download the online version? Ive got an origin account already and i've got the app.

(Sorry, im not technology savvy... things that may seem very simple to your average person that owns a laptop aren't very clear to me haha. I appreciate your help.)

Wait nevermind, i've registered the product code from the sims nightlife, and now im downloading it without the disc. Thanks! That helped a lot, and very cool that I can actually do that.

Now brings me to my next question, now that i've downloaded the last 4 expansion packs and stuff packs (high end loft, ambitions, fast lane and nightlife) do I need to register the world adventures disc too? Because I didn't do that before I downloaded the last 4 games ontop of it. Will that create future problems, or will it be okay now that nightlife is registered and thats the game I need to play?

    Hello,

I'm hoping you can help me again with a few problems im having again. The sims 3 was running perfectly fine after the last solution, and my latest EX/SP was Outdoor living stuff and I played the sims through origin just fine for weeks.

Then when Origin recently put out the sale on all the EX and SP, I bought all of them and started downloading the next EX in line- Generations.

Now here is where I went wrong- I downloaded Generations just fine, the game launcher opened just fine, and I DIDNT restart my computer which I should have done. I went straight to installing the next SP in line- Town Life Stuff (from a disc and then downloaded into Origin). When I went to play the game, I got the following error:

"Unhandled page fault on read access to 0x0000000c at address 0x1021058b.

Do you wish to debug it?" and then won't actually let me choose "Yes or No" and just freezes. So I restarted my computer, that didnt work. I uninstalled townlife stuff and tried to open the launcher, and that didnt work either becasue I got the same message for Generations. Then I uninstalled generations and restarted my computer, tried to open Outdoor Living Stuff (where I started with this whole mess) and the very same error is coming up.

    Can you help me?

    Thanks 🙂
