Sims 3 Download Stuck on Calculating Disc Space

@gwenleah and @soleida A few players have said they fixed this error by manually selecting the folder where the pack(s) should install. That would be the Sims 3 folder in whatever location you chose to install the base game, here by default:

C:\Program Files\EA Games\The Sims 3

@puzzlezaddict i just did that, and it won't download...
it just says that an error has occurred, and to restart the app. I've tried clearing the cache, and it doesn't work ☹️
...i've also tried unselecting all the expansion packs before downloading, nut they seem to be the only items that are even popping up.
why can't we have nice things, man

  @yawndre10 Was your download originally stuck calculating disk space, or did you see a different error? I ask because there are current threads for no packs downloading and for some packs downloading but not others:

@puzzlezaddict Thank you, I tried that, it's what LIIPapa suggested above, but it did not work.
And, I'm not sure if it makes a difference, but it's my Sims 3 base game I can't reinstall at all. I'm sure the packs wouldn't either but I keep removing them from the install process to see if the base game will install at least.

    So far, 2 different replies from EA on my case. 2 different people. Each email asking for the exact same info that I already gave.
    First person said they'd get back with me. Second person told me to uninstall Origin and reinstall it?
    
    I don't use Origin, haven't since the EA app started. Didn't even know you could still download it but they provided a link for the Mac version.
    
    Not holding my breath for help, since they obviously don't communicate with each other, don't bother to read what the initial or following posts say.
    LIke, how many times do I have to say the problem's on my pc, windows 10 and I get no error> Ugh, just needed to vent. I feel for you guys who've been having this issue for months.
