sims 3 expansion no cd key

@MeganFord1213  An alias is just an icon that's linked with a real program stored somewhere else.  When you make a desktop shortcut or an entry in your dock for an app, that's an alias.  The program files are stored somewhere else, like in Applications.  Double-clicking on the alias will launch the app, so you don't have to go rummaging around in subfolders each time you want to open it.

Each Sims 3 pack is supposed to have its own alias in Applications\The Sims 3, where the base game alias is, but some packs don't get installed properly.  It's easy enough to make an alias for each of these packs—the instructions I linked tell you exactly where to look and what to do.

TS3 is the abbreviation we use for The Sims 3.  I for one get lazy and tend to avoid typing out the whole string.

I selected the base game icon and the super patch launched.  

But I am having trouble understanding the other instructions.  What is an alias?  How do I know which expansion packs have an alias and which don't?

I am following the instructions from the link you provided.  The first 2 steps are as follows:

1. Navigate to your base game in Applications > Electronic Arts > The Sims 3, right click on it and then select Show Package Contents.
2. In the Finder window that opens navigate to Contents > Resources > AddOns. Here you will see the icon for the pack

However, when I click on "Resources" it opens but there isn't any "AddOns" to select in the finder window.

What am I missing?

Also, how can I view which icons/alias I already have?

When I open applications I only see the Origin icon but not EA or Sims3.

@MeganFord1213  That's so strange.  In Resources, there are a whole bunch of folders for various languages, but AddOns should be the second folder listed.  Inside are icons for the base game and each pack.  Could you take a screenshot of what you see in Resources?  (Click command-shift-4 and drag your cursor over the Finder window that you see when you open Resources.)  I suppose it's possible that the game didn't install properly.

Inside Applications > The Sims 3, you should see an icon for the base game, another for the uninstaller, and one for each of the packs you have installed.  For example:

You can take a screenshot of that too.  It will make things easier if I can see what you're seeing.

I think the problem is that I right clicked over the Origins icon, and I was supposed to right click over the Sims3 icon.  But when I open applications I only have the Origin icon.  There is no EA or Sims 3 icon in the applications finder.

Please help.

@MeganFord1213  When you ran the Super Patch, what path did you take to get to the Sims 3 icon?  That's the same path you need to use now.  And in Applications, you're looking for a folder labeled The Sims 3, not the icon itself, which will be inside that folder.

Again, if you can't find what you're looking for, a screenshot would be very helpful.

A screen shot is attached but it was of the Origin icon, not Sims 3.

When I ran the super patch it used a path that looks different than when I open Applications.  I am also attaching a screen shot of the path when I ran the super patch.
