@skybug040 Click the Apple icon in the upper-left corner of your screen, select About This Mac, and post all of the info you see there except for the serial number.
Please also let me know exactly what you see on-screen, now, when you try to launch 64-bit Sims 3.

memory : 8 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
graphics : AMD radeon HD 6770M 512 MB
and when i try and play the game it says

@skybug040 Your computer is slightly too old to support Metal, which means it can't run the 64-bit version of Sims 3. You'll need to uninstall that version and install the 32-bit version instead. This can be a bit complicated though, so please list all the packs you'd like to install, and I'll write out the extra steps, if any, you need to take. Uninstalling is easy: just right-click on the Sims 3 tile in your Origin game library and select Uninstall.
For now, please start by downloading the base game, not packs yet. Then run the Super Patch (digital download version) to manually patch to 1.67:
https://bluebellflora.com/sims-3-manual-super-patch-for-mac-1-67/
Please stop there and list the packs you're going to install.
By the way, if you play Sims 4 or want to try it, you'll need to download it in the next couple weeks. Your computer is also limited to the Legacy Edition (the standard version requires Metal), and the LE is being taken offline on December 12th. It will still run after that point; you just wouldn't be able to download it.

i did the patch thing so what should i do now.
i have late night and high end loft packs right now but there not download yet

@skybug040 Try to start the game and load a new save. If it doesn't work, stop here and let me know, and also list the error you get, if any.
If the game works, install High-End Loft Stuff and launch the game again. The launcher may try to patch, which is fine; if it errors out when patching, just ignore that. You only need to load the game to the Main Menu to know it's working.
Next, install Late Night, and use this method to create an alias for LN. The installer won't have created it on its own, and that's one of the causes of the unknown error message.
https://bluebellflora.com/sims-3-packs-not-showing-as-installed/
Once you've created the alias, test the game again. If everything works, you don't need to take any additional steps.
If you do ever install more packs, you may need to apply additional fixes, depending on which packs are involved. Ambitions, Fast Lane, and Outdoor Living are all affected in the same way Late Night is, so you'd need to manually create an alias for any of those you installed.
Additionally, you'd need to copy files from any of these four packs into a folder for the newest pack by release date. You don't need to do that now because LN is your newest pack, but if you installed, say, Seasons, you'd need to copy over the LN folder. If you installed Ambitions too, you'd need to copy the Ambitions folder over as well. (If you installed only Ambitions, the Ambitions folder would go into LN's folder, as LN is newer than Ambitions.) The video in this guide describes how to do it.
If you want more specific help with installing new packs, just list the pack(s) and I'll walk you through the process.

i downloaded both of them and i created the alias for late night and i still get the “unknown error occurred”
it still says the unknown error occurred but if i go to addons and right click on late night and click open it opens the launcher and then it lets me open the game. but that is the only way i can play the game as of right now

@skybug040 Origin might be calling the base game rather than Late Night, as it should. But launching the game from the Late Night icon is fine, and you don't need to have Origin open at all.

but do you know how to fix it , because i would always use custom content but it won’t let me until i fix that
- puzzlezaddict3 years agoHero+
@skybug040 I don't know that this is fixable at all; I always had the same issue when playing the 32-bit version. But it's not actually a problem. If you download custom content in Sims3Pack form, instead of double-clicking it to install, move the file(s) to Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 3 > Downloads. Then open the launcher's Downloads tab and install the content from there.

ok thank you. and soon i might get the pets expansion pack do i have to do any extra steps or just install and download it
- 3 years ago
or any other expansion pack like seasons , supernatural, or island paradise
- puzzlezaddict3 years agoHero+
@skybug040 Like I said, you'll need to copy a folder from Late Night into the folder for the newest pack you have installed. (It's not relevant now because LN is itself the newest pack.) Check out the video in the link I posted earlier.
If you install only Pets, the folder from LN goes into the folder from Pets. If you buy Island Paradise, that's where the folder goes: IP is newer than Pets or Seasons; Seasons is newer than Supernatural, which is newer than Pets.
