Sims 3 Flickering and Glitching

Hi, I tried to play The Sims 3 on my MacBook and it would flicker weird colors after a little bit of gameplay. Does anyone know how to run it on a MacBook like mine? It works for 20 minutes max and I already tried the reset Origin and repairing. Thank you. 🙂

  • @maxlovesims  Unfortunately, the type of graphics chip in your computer often has this kind of issue.  I'm not sure it can always be fixed, but you can try playing with the graphics settings.  Open Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 3 and delete options.ini, which will reset all of your in-game settings.  Load the game without changing any of them, except you can switch to windowed mode if you want.  (But please test in both fullscreen and windowed modes.)

If you still see the flickering, exit to the Main Menu, turn all the graphics settings to the minimum, quit to desktop, and reload.  Please try this with advanced rendering both on and off, in separate tests.  Any time you change a setting that isn't the resolution or the fullscreen/windowed option, you need to do so at the Main Menu and quit to desktop before loading a save.

If none of this makes a difference, please let me know what version of macOS you're running, not just the name but the build, i.e. Catalina 10.15.7.
