Sims 3 frozen in launching screen

I haven't been able to launch Sims 3 (or Sims 3 Showtime) for the past few days--it gets stuck on the second loading screen.  The green bar gets to about 98% and then just stays frozen even though the background images or hints may change.  I can't seem to bypass the launcher and it seems that's the problem.  I don't want to lose all of my game progress thus far!  Any ideas of how I can fix this or get around it?  Thanks so much!

Here's my diagnostic report (I'm on a PC):

So frustrating!

  • So I took a look. Awesomeville wouldn't load for me either but all the others did. The backup one also did (but I don't know how much time has passed between the two).

Did you restart the game inbetweeen trying ?

  • Did you change something like installing a patch ?

Are you using custom content or mods ?

No, nothing had been changed and I'm not using custom content or mods.  I've tried most of the solutions posted in the troubleshooting section but none have worked.  When I removed the files and tried to start a new game, it didn't freeze anymore and did allow me to start.  But when I added back in my backup "saved files" and tried to play, the same problem happened.  Froze up during the launch.

Here is further info from when I went into reliability monitor.

    Description

The program TS3W.exe version 0.2.0.209 stopped interacting with Windows and was closed. To see if more information about the problem is available, check the problem history in the Action Center control panel.

Thanks so much for responding!  Any help would be greatly appreciated as I hate to have lost all of my work! ☹️

Did you just add a savegame back or anything else ?

I can take a look if they load for me. Just zip up the entire folder of the savegame and upload to dropbox or mediafire. PM me the link.

I only loaded back the "Saves" folder but I did the entire folder at once.  Should I try one file at a time?

Did you notice anything in the diagnostics that I posted that would point to the error?

I'm uploading the file to dropbox and will send it to you when it's done syncing.

    Thanks!

So I couldn't get Awesomeville to load but I renamed and installed its backup and yes, it worked! Only a week or so had passed so it was easy to play catch up and not have too much history lost! Thank you so much for all of your time and help!!!

Could you please accept a solution so people know that this is solved and what the solution was.

    Thank you
