Sims 3 Generations Midlife Crisis error

Whenever a sim starts a midlife crisis they won't go to work, the carpool shows up, their job is affected, but they still won't go.  I had them quit and find a new job after their crisis was over and they still won't go back to work.  They couldn't work their whole sim life.  This has happened to every single one of my midlife crisis sims and it's getting really frustrating.  HELP.  I have a Toshiba laptop, bought new in 2010 and my EP are:
