"Sims 3 has stopped working"

So, I just recently download some custom content and a couple of mods. I honestly didn’t download much. Probably up to 20 to 30 items. Anyway, at first the game  would load, then I would chose which city I wanted to live in. At that loading screen, it would load till 98% then it would stop. I tried many things to get it to work. I downloaded CCMagic, a Sims 3 Dashboard, a Pc Scan and Repair thing, and many other things. I tried loading my game through the Origin app but, I started getting error messages At first, I started to get errors like “Fix the Msvcp 100.dll”. I fixed that, and I started to get the error “Fix the Msvcp 120.dll”. I fixed that, and now I’m getting the error “Fix 0xc00007b” I don’t know how to fix that, and I’ve done everything. Now, as soon as I try to run the sims game, it would load a little at the title loading screen then a message would pop up saying that the sims 3 has stopped working. If anyone could help me, I would appreciate it a lot. Keep in mind though, I don’t know anything about computers at all, so I would probably need step by step directions.

  • @AmiahSandefur  Alright, with everything you've done, it's probably a good idea to set your user files aside for now, and just see if you can launch the game with a clean folder.  Please ditch CCMagic as well, at least for now—it could certainly be the cause of your issues.

If you pull your entire TS3 game folder out of Documents and onto your desktop, a clean folder will spawn the next time you play.  Try to load a new town, and then play for a bit, just to make sure it's working.  If it is, then you can start rebuilding your mods and custom content.  It's best to download fresh copies of the files; add a few at a time, make sure the game still works, and then add a few more.  With only a couple dozen files, you really don't need to add CCMagic at all, unless you want it for other reasons.

Each time you add content to your game folder, make sure to delete the five cache files inside.  For reference, they are:

    • CASPartCache.package
    • compositorCache.package
    • scriptCache.package
    • simCompositorCache.package
    • socialCache.package

If you add a batch of custom content and your game doesn't launch, one of those files is probably broken or incompatible with your patch level.  You'll need to split up that batch and test it until you've found and removed the problem file.

If you can't even launch the game, or keep running into errors, with a clean game folder, then it might be time for a clean uninstall and reinstall.  Depending on what "many other things" you've tried, you could have deleted essential TS3 files.  After uninstalling, you'll need to clean your computer's registry, either manually or with a tool like Piriform's CCleaner (free download).
