Sims 3 in game screen glitching

This has happened a few times before, but this time it just won't stop.

I do have cc's but this also happened before I got cc so I don't think it has anything to do with this problem. I quit and saved the game and went on the next day it was still the same. I can't repair or do anything else with the game on origin.

I have windows 8. The problem just happens out of nowhere, it doesn't have a specific time when it happens. Well now it just won't stop.

@LoveLovciaPL  Yes, you did the dxdiag correctly.  And I see the issue here—your integrated graphics card is quite old, and it was never all that powerful to begin with.  It's possible that the screen flickering is due to the card not being able to handle Sims 3 anymore.  In that case, there wouldn't be much you could do.

However, if the card is still working okay in general, you can try running an fps limiter alongside the game.  For an Intel card, RivaTuner Statistics Server is probably the best option.  While its usual purpose is to bring down high frame rates, it can also help with flickering and other graphics glitches.

When setting up RTSS, use TS3.exe to create a profile for the game, and specify a limit of 60 fps.  Your card won't go that high, but it may still help to have the cap in place.  You can also experiment a bit with the other settings, although the defaults have always worked well for me.

RTSS does need to be running while you play in order for it to work, but it takes up hardly any resources, and you can just minimize it to the tray.

Finally, it's a good idea not to run anything else alongside Sims 3.  Your computer is already working hard enough with the game alone, and trying to multitask is only going to make things harder.

  • @LoveLovciaPL  I moved your post to the Sims 3 section.  (Also, I can't play your video for whatever reason.  You could upload it to youtube and provide a link, or just describe the issue.)

The first question is, what kind of frame rates are you getting in-game?  To check, bring up the cheats console (crtl-shift-c) and enter "fps on" without quotes.  A number will appear in the upper right corner of the screen.  ("fps off" makes it go away.)  Let me know how high it gets and whether it fluctuates.  Please also tell me whether you're playing in fullscreen or windowed mode, and whether it helps to switch from one to the other.

@LoveLovciaPL  Okay, now I see it (and yeah, that's unplayable).  This kind of thing is usually due to the graphics card, either its overall strength (and whether it's declining in performance) or how it transmits information to the monitor.

There are several tools that might help, depending on your card.  Please run a dxdiag and attach the results to a post.  Aside from the card, it will cover some other potential issues that should be ruled out.
