Sims 3 Island Paradise black screen

A while back, I bought the Sims 3 Island Paradise expansion pack through Origin. For the first hour or so it worked great, my laptop didn't have any problems running the game, and all was well. However, after a bit of gameplay, the game suddenly crashed, and I haven't been able to play the game ever since. After downloading and uninstalling and experimenting for a while, I know for a fact that the source of the problem is Island Paradise being installed. When I uninstall it, the game works fine again, but once I download it again, I can play for a bit but then it crashes and until I uninstall it again, the screen is completely black. I can load the launcher just fine, but once the actual game comes up, it's a completely black screen with just my cursor visible. I've randomly clicked around and waited to see if it would go back to normal, and while it hasn't, I can tell the game is running behind the black screen. After waiting the average load time, the cursor changes from the loading circle to the regular cursor, and I've clicked around and heard the different sounds of when you click on the options menu and such. I don't have any mods installed, and I ran the game without custom content, but that didn't do anything to solve the problem. I've also run the game with just Island Paradise, to no avail. I have an Asus laptop with Windows 10.

@AseccualPlant  I see two issues. Your Nvidia GeForce 940MX drivers are out of date (7/31/16). Go to the Nvidia support site and download and install newer drivers. There seems to be an issue with the ICEsoundAPO64.dll file provided by ASUS. Go to the Realtek site and download this file and replace it. This should stop the error.

  • Thank you so much! You're the first person that has actually solved this problem (it took me a surprisingly long time to actually come to an EA site to report the issue.)
