Sims 3 keeps crashing
I can play the game for up to 15 min before it'll crash. My PC is pretty beefy and I have to set the affinity to CPU 1 whenever I play, then go in and set it to all once the game opens. I just want ...
Would like to add that I removed NRaas Story Progression mod and the game has yet to crash, so I think that was the issue. 🙂
@cole9136 StoryProgression shouldn't cause crashing by itself, but running it on one of the higher speeds can overload the game engine. If you'd like to keep using it, try running it on Snail.
Additionally, install NRaas ErrorTrap and Overwatch if you haven't already, and set Overwatch's Stuck Check Auto-Reset to False. (Leave Stuck Check itself on True.) When OW tells you it's found a stuck sim, click the portrait to center on them, and look for some kind of routing issue in the area. For example, a horse might spawn at the home lot's mailbox and be unable to maneuver around the landscaping.
As a separate matter, if you haven't already manually capped your in-game framerates, please do that now. Your RTX 3060 is fast enough to run away with fps while running Sims 3, and that's not good for the long-term health of the card; it can also cause or exacerbate crashing. The Nvidia Control Panel has a Max Frame Rate you can set on a per-app basis: TS3.exe for an EA App install or TS3W.exe for a disc or Steam install. If you need more help with the process, let me know.
