sims 3 launcher won't open - windows 10

okay, so I know this game is super old but I love it some much!!

but this problem has been bothering me ever since I got windows 10 a couple of years ago, to the point of not playing anymore ☹️

I have everything downloaded properly, no mods or cc EVER but the launcher never seems to open.

I've tried running it as an admin, deleting cache, checking the compatibility and I've even deleted the base game and redownloaded it, this seemed to work, but only to open the game once and never again.

I just refuse to delete and redownload the base game every time I want to play. any suggestions?

  • @kaitlynflagss  As a test, please move your entire Sims 3 user data folder out of Documents\Electronic Arts and onto your desktop.  Then press Play in Origin and see whether the launcher opens.  If it doesn't, repair the game in Origin—open your game library, right-click on the Sims 3 icon, and select Repair—and then try again.  Let me know whether this makes any difference.

It may also help to disable Origin in-game: hover over your username select Application Settings, then the Origin in-game header, and disable the option at the top.

If none of this helps, please run a dxdiag and attach it to a post.
