Sims 3 Launcher

I purchased a new computer.  I am trying to get all my Sims 3 games onto the new computer.  First of all, why has it taken 36 hours just to download Sims 3 and Ambitions??  i have many games to downl...

My game version is 1.0.631.00107.

I played Sims 3 just a couple months ago.  I do not know why the version is so old.  I guess that is what the website gave me when I downloaded the base game.

    The patch worked, and it finally updated my game.  Before I could open the launcher, I got a message, "There was an error during start up.  Please see the log for more details."  When I click OK, it shuts down.  What do I do now?

      I think I should let you know that I am running on Windows 8.  Is there a special patch for that?
