catcat543249 The safer thing you can try is evicting your sims and placing them back in their house. They'd keep their jobs and relationships but lose their promised wishes and opportunities. This resets a lot of issues, although not necessarily this one.
When you try it, put them back in their house, use "save as" to rename the save (to keep the original intact in case you want it later), quit to desktop, and reload. It might take a sim-day or two for the sims to start aging again. After you quit to desktop, and also before you try this, delete the five cache files in Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 3:
CASPartCache.package
compositorCache.package
scriptCache.package
simCompositorCache.package
socialCache.package
If this doesn't help, and you don't want to start a new save, the only other non-mod-related way I know of to fix this is to disable Generations, wait until the sims start aging again, and only then reenable the EP. As I mentioned, this could potentially corrupt your save, so keep a backup handy.
As for how to disable Generations, since you have a Mac, you can simply drag the EP04 folder out of the Sims 3 Packs folder, which will be wherever you installed the game, Applications > EA Games by default. The EP won't load with its folder moved. To use Generations again, put the folder back.
